Mayflower Community Academy Venture into the Wilds of Ham Woods

Today was the first of our Woods to Waves school sessions in Plymouth’s beautiful green spaces. We ventured back in time to learn about the skills of our ancestors; starting fires, gathering food, sourcing water and tracking animals. Children shared their language skills to describe what we saw and even told stories. We also came up with a new word for wood shavings used to start our fire; tree beards!
