We had a great session with Shakespeare School exploring and learning about spring woodlands and the minibeasts and birds that live in them. As spring is just starting to arrive we searched for signs of leaves and flowers emerging. We learnt about the different parts of a plants and the roles they play. As well as sniffing wild garlic and admiring hazel catkins we found a hosts of beast living in all the lovely rotting wood. Many children and a few (!) parents were brave enough to hold the worms, beetles, slugs, woodlice and earwigs. Finally we built two huge nest and tested them out; singing and lounging in a bed of leaves!
